Edgar Lawson recounts his memories of working for Dagenham Cables (also known as Union Telephone Cables or the Union Cable Company). Includes references to his duties, working hours and social activities. Also describes his early life and his parent’s experiences during the First World War, as well as his service throughout the Second World War in Tunisia. Interviewed by Eastside Community Heritage as part of the Working Lives of the Thames Gateway Project in 2008.
