Barking & Dagenham Youth Dance (BDYD) have created three TikTok Tea Dance Challenges, each set at different levels and catering to all physical abilities and age groups. The dances draw influence from the Becontree Estate itself – looking across historic and current dance styles, whilst imagining future movements and trends. BDYD will create a short film that captures a portrait of a community celebrating 100 years of the Becontree Estate through movement and dance. Staff and volunteers teach participants how to do the dances via TikTok videos which can be viewed in the link below.
BDYD are keen to work with local young people, as well as their families, with a particular focus on improving physical and mental health. To learn the TikTok dances and be part of an exciting short film that will be shown at the Becontree 100 Festival on Saturday 14 August - click here.
