A programme of art, culture and new infrastructure to reimagine the future of the UK’s biggest council housing estate
A typical end of terrace, council-owned house on Lodge Avenue will be used as a base for resident engagement for the Becontree Design Code and Becontree Future Neighbourhoods strategy, and as a ‘model house’ to co-design and prototype retrofitting a net zero carbon home and adaptation structures at various scales.
The Becontree Model House, alongside a Becontree Design Code and a Becontree Future Neighbourhoods strategy, is one of three projects led by Be First, Barking & Dagenham Council’s regeneration company, that aim to bring residents together to reimagine the estate for future generations.
Be First are looking for 15 residents from the Becontree estate who best represent our community's culture, diversity and vibrancy to join the Becontree Design Forum to help shape the future of Becontree Estate.
