Summer of Festivals

Brightening up the Borough

Estate-wide

18 June – 31 August 2021

Join the community campaign between 18 June and 31 August 2021 to brighten up the spirits of the borough as we get ready for the summer. Decorate your doors, windows, fences and gardens with vibrant colours and eye-catching designs. Put up the bunting ahead of the Thank You Festival on 3 to 4 July and the Becontree Forever Weekender on 14 to 15 August which celebrates the centenary of the Becontree Estate. London Borough of Barking & Dagenham council want the entire community to get involved, including residents, schools, shops, venues, care homes and everyone in between.

The Summer of Festivals is a programme of free family festivals held in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to bring the community together to celebrate culture and art. In 2015, they held a number of events across the borough to celebrate the borough's 50th anniversary. They were so well received, and enjoyed by around 100,000 people, that they have since continued to grow in size and ambition year on year.
