Green Shoes Arts want to engage with young people who live on the Becontree Estate through their community arts project Speak Up! Participants will work with award-winning professional artists during four creative workshops in music, drama and spoken word exploring mental health and expressing their feelings about the area in which they live. By the end of the project, participants will have worked with other young people to construct a resilient digital space to experience in Virtual Reality. Speak Up! offers opportunities to move forward as part of society, challenging the stigma of mental health, with young people from all different cultural and economic backgrounds working together with a common interest in art and culture.
If you are interested in taking part or part of an organisation that works with young people, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org, or DM them on Instagram @greenshoesarts.
Green Shoes Arts are a passionate team of professional arts facilitators based in Barking and Dagenham who work to see positive change in the local community through participation in the arts. For them, being involved in the arts as a participant or as an audience member can have a profound effect on people’s lives. Whether it is running a film project for young people at risk of exclusion or giving adults with learning difficulties the chance to create stories and perform in front of an audience, life is made more enjoyable and rewarding when we spend time doing something creative with a group of friends, old and new.
