Girls Like Us

#BEUFOREVER

Valence Library

3 May – 11 June 2021

Girls Like Us will be delivering a digital programme for young black women between the ages of 16 -18 across the Becontree estate and Barking & Dagenham that are interested in luxury fashion and beauty. Professional careers in the fashion and beauty industry are rarely advertised as positive career pathways for young women of colour. Despite a prevailing lack of diversity within the industry, there has been a rise in black public figures and brands challenging colonial beauty standards.

#BEUFORVER will be run with co-collaborators LVMH fashion group, Benefit and Aniquè Crystal. The programme is designed to provide girls with insights into building a career in the luxury fashion and beauty industry, equipping them with invaluable skills and knowledge.

The programme consists of nine sessions all delivered on Zoom. The first session will begin on Monday 3rd May from 7pm – 8.30pm. To find out more about the programme and register click here.
